Do you or your spouse-to-be love their pet so much that they want them to be included in the wedding? Have you asked everyone what they thought on the idea? I bet they all told your their opinions right? Well, I personally think it is a great personal touch to a wedding but it could also cause a few problems. I love when people use their pets in the ceremony, but who is going to take care of them during the reception? What happens if they get distracted during your ceremony and decide to chase after a squirrel? Though I will say, most dogs I have seen at weddings have been very well behaved, and not once have I seen one chase down a squirrel. But I have always wondered who takes care of the dog during the reception. If you want to include your pet in your wedding, then you need to make sure that all of your guests are comfortable with your pet being present during your ceremony. Also, check with the venue. You need to make sure that pets are allowed at the venue before making any plans. The old saying of practice makes perfect will definitely be the key to your success with using your pet during your wedding. He/she will definitely need lots of practice around the venue, around your bridal party and going through the motions of the ceremony. Remember when I asked who would watch the pet during the reception? You will need to designate someone to watch your pet. This can even just be someone who watches him while you get up to go talk to people during the reception if you will have your pet with you during the reception. Be flexible, because no matter how much you plan things out things will go awry. Pets have a mind of their own and will steal the spotlight at one point in the day from you for some reason. Even if you want your pets at the wedding, some pets are not meant to be at weddings.
