I’m Engaged!! Now What?

Milene & Marc Anthony_5It’s a well known that most couples get engaged throughout the holiday season and especially at Valentine’s Day! So Congratulations! Here are a couple of key notes to help in your next steps…

Take some time to enjoy your engagement. Yes, there is that impulse to immediate start planning how you’re going to get married, but it’s better to take some time to just relax and be in the moment to reflect and enjoy the moment of being engaged.
Decide on the budget. Now that you have had time to “be in the moment of engagement”, start thinking about how much you would like to spend on your wedding and how much cash you have to put towards your wedding versus the rest of your life. A great source of Financial planning comes from The Penn Life Insurance Company newsletter, Worthwise Winter 2013, courtsey of Devin Walsh from the National Financial Legacy Group , which may serve you well as you plan your future.
Hire wedding planning/consultant. So, there are experts for everything that we do in life, and why not inquire for the help of planning your dream wedding, certain aspects of it, or at the very least, a planner to coordinate your most special day.
Consider your Guests and Your Wedding Date. Start thinking about your guest list and how big you visualize your wedding being as well as what season you would like to have your wedding. These components are such an important aspect of wedding planning because most venues and caterers either have limitations on how many guests can be placed/served or certainly may vary their pricing, based on how many people you have and what season, weekend (weekdays are cheaper) that you are having your wedding.
Search for a Ceremony Site and Officiant. Venues can affect a wedding budget so drastically (as well as catering) that you starting to look early is such a good idea. By thinking about your budget, getting a planner, and searching for a ceremony site within your budget will alleviate so many future headaches.

Finally, this is a great opportunity to get some really beautiful (“tres belle,” of course!) shots of you and your beau.
